I began cycling after back surgery when I had to give up running and skiing in 2016. After riding for a year I decided to start racing and joined a team based in the Sacramento area in 2018. I raced as a Cat 5, 4, and 3 and upgraded to a Category 2 in 2019 while winning the Road Race and Time Trial NCNCA Masters State Championships for my age group. Before the start of the 2020 season, my friend and I co-founded Velo Kings Racing. Earlier this year I was upgraded to Category 1. My short racing history has taught me this truth: It’s far more rewarding to race with teammates regardless of the outcome than it is to individually win any single event. Team is everything. I plan as many of my training and free rides with teammates as I can.
